Speaking and Training Engagements
Amelia Swanson, Ph.D. provides education and training to medical clinics/hospital systems, fertility clinics, psychology students and medical trainees. She tailors her approach to the audience and aims for learners to have concrete information and strategies to apply in their daily work.
Dr. Swanson received her MS in Counseling Psychology from University of Wisconsin-Madison and her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from University of Miami. Her pre-doctoral internship was at Yale New Haven Hospital/ Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, CT. Her postdoctoral fellowship was at Cambridge Health Alliance/Harvard School of Medicine in Cambridge, MA. She was a faculty member at both UMass Chen School of Medicine and Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. She currently serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, where she continues to provide clinical consultation and mentorship to psychology doctoral students.
Outside of her clinical practice and teaching, Dr. Swanson is the co-chair for the Mental Health track of the Midwest Reproductive Symposium International (MRSi), and has served on committees of the Mental Health Professional’s Group of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. She was also recently a co-editor and chapter author for a book “Trauma-Informed Reproductive Health Care.”
Dr. Swanson can give half-day or full-day trainings and lectures, and can tailor the event to suit your organization’s needs. She can present on topics of trauma-informed care, burnout, resilience, stress management, psychological aspects of infertility and pregnancy loss, working with difficult patients, strategies to compassionately deliver bad news, psychological impact of chronic illness, what medical providers need to know about CBT for chronic pain.
